The long awaited winter has finally arrived — Riga got covered in beautiful snow over the first weekend of 2016.
Causing transportation problems and traffic jams early Monday morning, this type of weather has definitely got some perks. (Pictured!)
Many city dwellers felt disturbed though, and rightfully so: not only is it cold outside (minus twenties Celsius), the winter wonderland also brings motorway traffic collapse — as vehicles drive slower and the roads could not be cleaned timely due to constant snow buildup.
Heavy snowfall due to end by midnight, but make sure you have three things ready: skis to enjoy the slopes at a nearby resort, camera to take snaps of the beautiful Riga and your ice scraper to get the car ready to drive.
