US guided missile destroyer Jason Dunham and four UK ships to arrive in Riga for a port visit
USS Jason Dunham will visit the Port of Riga on July 12, followed by four University Royal Naval Unit ships from the United Kingdom on July 13. The ships are currently participating in exercises in the Baltic Sea.
During the journey, students from universities in the United Kingdom will obtain practical experience by learning under a Navy Lieutenant, according to the information from the Embassy of the United Kingdom in Riga.
HMS Biter, HMS Pursuer, HMS Explorer and HMS Trumpeter will arrive in Riga from the Kihnu island and depart to Ventspils and Liepāja afterwards.
The captains of the ships will meet with Juris Radzevičš, executive director for the City of Riga, as well as Major General Juris Zeibārts of the United Headquarters.
On July 13, the USS Jason Dunham sailors will participate in an outreach project at the Jurmala city orphanage Spriditis. The crew members will paint and assist in other renovation works at the orphanage campus, noted the U.S. Embassy in Riga.

The Jason Dunham visit is part of NATO’s commitment to strengthening ties with the regional partners and allies, promoting stability and piece in the Baltic Sea. The ship arrived to Latvia on May 4, strengthening the Atlantic Resolve forces in the Baltics with a naval presence.
