FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup 2021 is all set to take place this summer in Latvian cities Riga and Daugavpils.
It will be the 15th edition of the FIBA U19 Basketball World Cup, and Latvia will host the prestigious tournament for the second time since 2011.
The dates are booked — July 3 to 11 with the action to take place in Arena Riga, Elektrum Olympic Center and Daugavpils Olympic Center.
The first matchups are shaping up too: the groups for the tournament were confirmed at Wednesday’s draw ceremony in Berlin, Germany, with participating countries discovering their opponents.
The teams were divided into four groups of four teams each.
Hosts Latvia were drawn in Group B with Serbia, Iran and Puerto Rico.
The neighboring basketball powerhouse Lithuania were drawn in Group A with Canada, Japan and Senegal.
Group C features reigning bronze medalists France who were drawn with Spain, South Korea and Argentina.
While the defending champs USA Basketball were drawn with in Group D with Turkey, Australia and last tournament silver medalists Mali.
The draw was streamed live on FIBA’s YouTube channel, along with the FIBA U19 Women’s Basketball World Cup 2021 draw that will take place in Hungary.
