High winds and rain storm have damaged electrical lines throughout Latvia, resulting in power outage in around 20,000 homes on Saturday.
Most of the electrical lines were repaired on Saturday, but Sadales Tīkls informs that due to the technically complicated damage and access difficulties to the lines in forest areas, the work might take longer.
There were 8,000 homes with no power Saturday morning, then the number grew to 20,000 as the storm progressed. By the end of day, power was restored to most households and the outage remained in just 2,000 homes.
By Sunday morning, there were 1,000 homes with power cut off, reducing to 700 homes Sunday afternoon.
