RB Latvija, the official expert company for Rail Baltica in cooperation with local governments and resident groups developed three new alternative routes for the railway line with European gauge to be laid on the territory of Latvia.
RB Latvija notes that special solutions are being developed for the most densely populated areas.
Currently the alternative routes are projected for Marupe and Salacgriva region.
The possibility of implementing these options will be discussed in detail during public discussion in Marupe in August and the public debate in Salacgriva, which should be held until October — when public hearings should be held in all municipalities to host the Rail Baltica.
View the full maps of projected alternatives and their descriptions on Rail Baltica website (in Latvian).
Rail Baltica will run for 265 km in Latvia and will pass through the territories of various municipalities including Riga.
